Introducing Artist and Instructor Adam Matano

Brentwood Art Center
"I'm a sculptor specializing in the human and animal form. I draw direct inspiration from life; I can regularly be found at the Los Angeles Zoo sculpting animals or in the studio sculpting the human form."

Adam Matano is a professional artist and educator specializing in figurative sculpture.
Adam studied at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Connecticut. He received a BFA in Sculpture with honors and was awarded the excellence in sculpture award along with the student leadership award. During school he competed in multiple figure sculpture competitions held at: the New York Academy of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Art (placing first), and the New York Academy (placing third).
Although Adam's main training was in the human figure, he has always had a special love for animals and he applies his knowledge of the human figure to sculpting them. He can be found once a week at the LA Zoo making sculptures from life.

Over the ten week course I'll introduce you to exercises that will enrich your understanding of sculpting fundamentals, and you'll be given the option to indulge your artistic voice by creating your own project, too. Although we don't provide models, if you wish to work from life you can always bring your own to class."
